My latest exploration is modifying photos I have taken, to take on the appearance of various art forms. I particularly like drawing as an alternative to a black and white photograph, or ink wash to maintain a monochrome in the final product.
Another favorite is watercolor as an interpretation of a photograph. For this medium, strong contrast in the original image helps in the final result. Coloration can be modified, either making the finished art, warmer or cooler, increasing or decreasing saturation of color, and in some instances even altering the "paper" that serves as the background. Here are a few examples of my work. If you like this approach, it can be added to any photo which I have taken, but simple backgrounds work best for portraiture, and busier backgrounds for landscapes, will automatically appear simpler.
